- Earache, itch, ringing (tinnitus)
- Worsening after water exposure (swimming/showering)
When to see an ENT
- Recurrent wax build-up despite drops
- Pain, discharge, or suspected infection
- History of ear surgery, perforation, or using hearing aids
What we do
- Otoscopy/microscopy to assess the ear canal and eardrum
- Microsuction or specialized instruments to remove wax safely
- After-care advice to reduce recurrence
Treatment & prevention
- Microsuction in clinic (preferred)
- Softeners when appropriate; avoid cotton buds
- Follow-up for hearing test if symptoms persist after clearance
